Sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time without taking breaks can be very detrimental to your health. It can lead to an increased risk of chronic pain, muscle tension, and poor posture, as well as other health problems such as obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.

Take Cindy for example

Cindy had been living with debilitating back pain for as long as she could remember.

As a desk job worker, the pain was constantly getting worse, and Cindy found it harder and harder to focus on her work.

One day, Cindy decided to take the plunge and visit An Araya Health therapist.

After an initial consultation and a few tests, the therapist concluded that Cindy was suffering from lower back muscle weakness, leading to her chronic pain.

The therapist prescribed Cindy a series of exercises and stretches to strengthen her lower back muscles, to be done at least once a day.

She was also advised to take frequent breaks from her desk job to move around and stretch her back.

At first, Cindy was skeptical of the treatment plan, but after pushing herself to follow the therapist’s instructions, she started to experience relief.

Much to her surprise, she was able to return to her desk job with much less pain.

Cindy was grateful for the help she had received and was now able to work with greater focus and enthusiasm.

She was so glad that she had taken the initiative to visit the physical therapist and followed their advice, as it had made a huge difference in her daily life.

It only took 15 minutes of her lunchtime to practice the routine.

When it comes to living with back pain, everyone we see wants to know:

Why Is This Happening To Me?
Or
"Why Am I Still Suffering With Back Pain
After Putting Up With It For 6 Months (Maybe More)?”

People may experience back pain for a variety of reasons, including muscle strain, poor posture, arthritis, disc problems, scoliosis, and injury or overuse.

Is that something that applies to you?

Another scenario we see all the time in our therapy clinic is when people go to the doctor, and the doctor tells them to rest and “try these painkillers” and “get an MRI”.

But this is rarely ever the best advice and often 6 weeks later, they end up going back to the doctor again because it hasn’t gotten any better.

Worse, they’re often given yet another prescription of even stronger pills and advised MORE rest.

This is madness and explains why so many people are suffering from chronic lower back pain.

Has This Type Of Thing Happened To You?

Your lower back is the part of your body where muscles, tendons, and ligaments join the spine to form a single unit.

And because it’s responsible for supporting most of your weight and helping you maintain good posture; it can cause some serious problems if it’s out of alignment.

One of the main causes of back pain is poor posture. We spend so much time hunching over at our desks that eventually our bodies give in and start hurting.

If you’re constantly reaching forward to type or lose sight of your screen because you’re hunching over while working, it’s time to change something about your workspace.
